View Full Version : XPower a Windows XP Alternative?

"A freelancer programer fixed up the Windows XP, made it TWO (2) times faster than any other Windows XP, got rid of all the bugs, and preinstalled many useful applications. Then, he made the Windows XPower Free of Charge! Anyone could download and use it!"
"...Microsoft decided to release Vista instead of simply fixing bugs and errors in XP which majorly slowed down its performance. Now Vista has even more problems than XP and requires more power from your PC. Windows XPower then was released to help people who preferred Windows XP but wished it would run faster."
Some people are swearing by it. What do you guys think?

It would be nice if it really worked and that everything was just like XP but faster and legal. The thing is would it be legal to use since it is XP just modified? If anyone tries it and it is a good alternative post here because I sure could use a faster XP and it beats buying Vista!

Well im not a legal expert, but it would seem pretty illegal .
I got this from another forum where a few users have tried it, and thus far the reviews are positive.

Thats because it's very new. The programmer is from my neck of the woods so thats part of the reason why I discovered it so quickly.

Some people are swearing by it. What do you guys think? There is other warez software that works ok but it's a moot point. It's Windows XP modified to bypass activation so that makes it just as illegal as any of the other cracks, keygens, warez, etc.

Let's think about this logically. M$ has thousands of employees from the best Universities around the world developing an operating system. One guy from Russia can sort it all out? I don't think so..... :rotflmao:

Sounds like a knockoff of Windows XP Egyptian Hack.
I vote that Windows XPower is illegal as well.

Basically the finest minds on CTH have come to a conclusion. By and large, on the whole, so to speak, to coin a phrase...... it's crap.

Not to worry, Microsoft will jump all over this as soon as they get wind of it. :)

You can do it yourself. There are many programs, including XP Setup routines, that will allow to customise the installation.
You can create your own customised (integrated hotfixes and patches, removed components) and slipstreamed install or you can create an image with a full setup ready to go.

Far as I'm concerned, anything that claims to get rid of 100% of bugs is a lie. No software is 100% bug free.
And yes it's definitely illegal.

If you are referring to newxpower.blogspot.com than here is my review.
I installed it on my old pentium III laptop which was not connected to the internet for security reasons.
As was stated before, the Windows XPower has simple tweaks and it is customized, all the useless Microsoft tools and processes are removed or disabled which makes this thing real fast (15 seconds boot for me).
It comes with a free version of SpyBot.
I think it is illegal in many countries, however it is legal in Canada.
By canadian LAW this kind of activity is legal as long as no one makes a profit out of it, Windows XPower is distributed for free - so no profit.
Now about the comment stating that Microsoft has all the top notch programmers... well this is bunch of bull, and we all know it. If Microsoft was so great, people wouldn't switch to MACs... Microsoft is outdated, overrated and not innovative. Instead of fixing up the XP they came out with Vista - which has even more issues than XP ever did.

You better get your facts straight. The ONLY downloading in Canada that is legal is music downloads. Downloading copywritten or hacked software and movie via P2P is still VERY illegal.

I was sure it was related to other material, not only mp3! Well now I know.
Xpower is great ... but illegal
