That's not a page, it's a screen. Only browsers have pages, as do word documents. Now his referral to secured mode, is actually Safe Mode. Restart the computer as it begins booting up start tapping the F8 key, you should eventually get a boot menu to chose options on how windows boots up. One of those options is Safe Mode. Select it by using your arrow keys to highlight that entry and then press Enter. If the computer works ok in Safe Mode, then it's a software/driver problem. If it does not allow you to go to Safe Mode, then most likely it's a hardware problem.

Thanks for your reply.I tried all that before I made my frist post. But I will try it again and get back to you.[?]Is there anyway I can get all the games and everything else loaded into another pc? I have another pc with 19 gigs. I know it can hold all of the 9 gigs on the Dell. The Dell is only half full, about 4 gigs.

No, games and programs have to reloaded via cds or other media that was provided via the games or programs. The only thing you can save are your documents, photos, music and/or videos.
Neither can you transfer the operating system unless it was a standalone and not an OEM disk.

I got the Dell to boot by unplugging it for two days and letting it sit. But,it will sometimes boot, and if I hook up the modem for the internet it closes the page and says something about the plug and play configuration. How do I redo the confirguration so as not to have this problem anymore..And when I shut down to reboot, it will not reboot.I have to unplug and wait again.I tried to reinstall W2k to fix it, but it didnot work.

Anytime a computer won't boot, but letting it sit for awhile, then it will boot, the power supply is dying. Time for a new one.

Your Dell has Proprietary products in it. The only power supply you'll be able to use is one made specifically for Dell Optiplex computers.

Old topic but new boot problem after 4 days with the new power supply.I get this error when trying to boot my computer now, plus it's a blue screen. ***STOP: 0x00007B,(0x8167BDB0,0xc0000032,0X00000000,0x00000 007 INACCESS_BOOT_DEVICE If this is the frist time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check for viruses on your computer.Rmove any newly installed hard drives, or hard drive controllers.Check your hard drive to make sureit it properly configured and terminated.Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, then restart your computer.Refer to your GETTING STARTED manual for more information on troubleshooting Stop errors. I've done all that plus I tried safe mode and all the rest of what's on that page.Putting the old power supply back is getting me the same error.I even tried a boot floopy I had made before I started having any problems with the computer at all.But nothing I tried worked..Hope I can get this solved.

After defragment I got a blank screen so I shut down to reboot and that's when the problem started. Is there any hope or do I just put it in the dumpster?

Go back and try chkdsk /r if that doesn't work then a repair might.

Not sure why you're trying to get into safe mode command prompt, you need the Windows 2000 pro disk to run chkdsk /r.

If you have windows 2000 on cd, then certainly you can reinstall it.

You're welcome. One question though, when you reinstalled w2k, did you delete the partition first?

The only thing it could be now is either bad ram or a bad harddrive. More likely the harddrive is going out because usually this kind of problem is, install OS becomes corrupt and is usually related to harddrive.

If you know what the brand name is on the drive you can test with their diagnostic software.

It is a 1991 so I think it's seen it's better days. I got it second hand for $20.00.So for $20.00 for six months ain't bad.I think I'll do away with it .It's cost more to fix it than I paid for it.
