Hi, I am having a strange problem

Recently, I switched from dial-up to Broadband ( 10 MB WLAN connection).

I was using ICQ 5.1 which worked fine on the new connection. But when I installed ICQ 6 and tried to connect using the same connection, it gives the following error, always:

"Oops, it seems that you have lost your internet connection, click here to refine your internet connection settings."

I am using the same settings that I used in ICQ 5.1 but it never works..

Here are the details of my internet connection:

Behind firewall and proxy.

certain ports are blocked ( but everything else including torrents and P2P sharing works)

Every other messenger and software works. ONLY ICQ 6 can't recognize my connection. Any help please? Thanks in advance.

you might wanna double check on the connection setting and fill out whatever needs to be fill out as i can see you are behind a proxy...so you might want to insert that info there...or did you do that already?

I have already filled out all the required information but ICQ 6 just doesn't detect the net. Whereas its older version, 5.1, connects easily with the same settings.

symantec security client is running but that is not creating problem because everything else is working... the problem lies in ICQ 6 itself please help me how can I make ICQ 6 recognize my internet connection

you never know unless you can tell me that the security does allow ICQ6 to have connections.....its possible that it could have blocked the connection as its a new verison and not upgraded from pervious version.

What if you tried to disable that secuirty for temp and try and connect? any difference in that?

no, the problem still exists. It works flawlessly if I switch to dial-up but doesn't concect on the broadband. I don't know whats wrong as I have configured everything else to work with the same settings.

are you connected to the router?

maybe you gotta setup ICQ port for it to be running good?
