Equation Calculator...Does it exist?
Is there such a thing as a program that solves simple algebraic equations such as:
Solve for X: X+1=2 Obviously X=1....but is a computer capable of figuring that out? I've done some looking around and I've only been able to find software that gives you the STEP BY STEP SOLUTION....not the answer, and therefore requires you to give the software the answer before it will do anything. This is something that I've always been curious about. Is it even possible to write software that can solve equations like this?

If you do this frequently, you will want to invest in a graphics calculator like a TI-83 or TI-86. These are common in most high schools, often required.
