I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions regarding the disposal and recycling of old electronic equipment. At my workplace we are cycling older systems and equipment out of service but are running into the issue of what to do with them after we pull them. Most options that we have looked into either won't take the equipment because it's too old, or want us to pay more than the equipment is worth just for us to actually bring the items to them to recycle! And not many people are willing to buy these systems from us to use either. We have CRTs, Ipaqs (without cd drives), miscellaneous towers and printers, old laptops barely fit to run Win 95/98 and dozens of extra parts that go to these and who knows what other old systems that used to be run here.

As a company we are trying to go green in our handling of the disposal of these items so just dumping them is out but we don't have the financial backing to pay for someone to recycle it. We are in eastern South Dakota, USA. Any comments or suggestions?

Freecylcle (http://www.freecycle.org/groups/uscentral/) probably has a chapter near you.

I'll have to look into that one. Anyone else have suggestions? Ideas from what you've done in the past?
