What have i missed??

Howdy folks..
I Have just reinstalled Call Of Duty 2 to my comp.... went thru all the right steps...

went to play it via the desktop icon and got a message saying unable to...
tried direct from the CD..stil unable... tried via program files wher i installed it to... still unable....

i Uninstalled it.. and reloaded it..to no avail keep getting the following message ..

Couldn't load default.cfg. Make sure Call of Duty is run from the correct folder.


any ideas as to what it may be???
its a relatively new 80 gig HDD..that i just had to reload my graphic drivers onto..

any help would be appreciated, :)
