I must say to start with - I dont understand networks. I got our home/small office set up, but dont know how, I just sort of pressed buttons (Vista and XP computers) and windows *fixed it*.
So, on to my question;
I'd like to fit 2 cameras to my (3/4 miles away) stables, so I can check my horses, on my computer, without having to keep going to the stables every hour or so (they are old and I worry about them!).
I cant get it round my head how the cameras would (will) connect to my web browser without being plugged into a computer at the stables (which I dont have).
Could anyone tell me what do I need (apart from the camera's) to set this up?
We have a Netgear G8(??) router, slow broadband connection (we are at the *End of the Line* so dont get the speed we pay for) a domain name. Oh and no idea how to set up a web page - or if I would need one to do this?
Thanks in advance :happy: :dizzy:

Hi Rosie

If I understand you correctly you want to remotly monitor the stables which are 3/4 mile away and there is no internet connection there.

Sure if you had an internet connection at the stables it could be done but you don't. If you had a PC at the stables you would still need to connect it to your wifi router. Links can be established over this distance but you would need special antennas which can be expensive (I have made them but you need the engineering exp)

Your only other option would be to feed the video directly, again by a radio link. Again this would require specialised equipment. Not necesarilly dificult but it would cost you

Hi Mike
Thanks for that, I thought it would be harder than it seemed - things always are! I got it in my head that the camera was a server(?) and could connect remotely to our router. Too much Ebay ad reading!! lol.
Oh well...
Thanks again
