I have been using a Linksys wireless card that slides into the PC card slot. For some reason it does not work properly. When I insert the card the mouse/mouse pad freezes and I cannot control it and the internet signal is not picked up. I have uninstalled/reinstalled with no luck. I have come to the conclusion that the card itself must be damaged. I am just going to buy a new one. I noticed that now you can get a wireless card or wireless USB connection. Does anyone have any experience with using the usb connector for internet access. Just wondering if you can get as good a signal. I do know for a fact that I had no problem with the signal using the PC card before now but the USB does look like a good idea if it works. Thanks

I personally like wireless cards. But, I really think it's a personal preference, cause I can't think of any reason why one would be better than the other.

The PCI and USB cards are usually completely identical besides their interface to the computer. The only factor that I am aware of is that in some environments an external USB device may be less susceptible to obstructions: the USB device can usually be set ontop of a desk or monitor, whereas the PCI card may get stuck under a desk which is invariably made of thick metal
Since you didn't mention it though, you have tried shutting the system down, inserting the card into the laptop, and then booting up and installing it with Auto Detect/Add Hardware in the OS? It sounded like you were inserting the card without shutting down?
