XP on Vista Network

Okay, my goal is to transfer all my old files from XP onto Vista, nothing more.
Vista is the host computer on the Network, but I'm having a lot of trouble.

XP shows up on the Network Map on Vista, but I cannot access XP at all. There are several folders on XP that are setup to be shared...

I need some sort of walk through help here...

I would think the easiest way is to use the built in Easy Wizard Transfer. You do not need a USB transfer cable for this.

I found this guide which has great screenshots and does it over the network. I hope this helps

Windows Easy Transfer

Hmm, I'm not seeing where to even begin on this page, I see instructions...but for what?

It looks like it could help though.

Yeah I can't do it because it needs the network to be connected right...which it's not.

I'm just going to go out and buy myself a transfer cable.

Glad to hear you got the DVD fixed. Vista can be a pain but hang in there.
