PCI simple communication controller is a modem. How are you attempting to install the driver? Did you right click this item in Device Manager and chose update driver, pointing the wizard to where the drivers are located on your harddrive?
Is this the driver that HP gave you?

I know that it is a modem but in a online chat with HP I told them the same thing - network adapters are working fine and the only yellow is the PCI card it has to be the reason I can not get on line and NO to that driver they gave me sp26362

You say network adapters are working fine, but you can't get on the net? How do you connect to the net, dsl, cable or phone line as in dialup?
PCI simple communications is a modem and that driver I posted is for that modem. Install it and the yellow splat will go away.
I'm a computer tech by trade, and I know this is what the simple commnucation problem is.

Sometimes those HP techs don't understand what you're telling them and they, sometimes, try too hard. If you install the driver I posted, you should be okay afterwards. Make sure to restart your computer afterwards.

I'm trying to decide if this is still a hardware problem or a network problem. I think I'm going to move you over there.
