What's the error you get in SFC?

Also, can you post the exact message you get with the BSOD? (ie, Explorer caused an invalid etc. in kernal 4564565f11, whatever)

I just ran sfc, and it ran fine, I had one system file that has always came up when I run sfc, and thats setupx.dll. So I ignored it. I tried to install something, and this is the error I got.
"An exception OE occured at 0028:c004B8BB in VxD VFAT (o1) + 00009843. This was called from 0028:c004c09c in VxD VFAT (01) + 0000 A024. It maybe be possible to continue normally" and at this point in which I pres ctrl+alt+dlt I get the task manager window, and it freezes, any ideas why its doing this?? Thanks for the help!

Do a scanreg /restore. From DOS mode, at the C:\ prompt type scanreg /restore. Pick an early date from the next box, OK your way back to sanity.

Hmm bad news, I forgot to tell ya, I just did a total fdisk, and reformat to this so all of the backup registries are since the reformat... I'm stuck I think. It never ends!!

So the BSOD's have been happening ever since you formatted/reinstalled?

Yes they have, and even before I reformatted. Could it be that I have a driver yet unupdated?

So any ideas on what I could do?

Edgefire,

Alot of the VFAT error that I have come across deal with device errors. Since you just formatted and all this is what I would do. I would remove all devices (peripheral and expansion cards) make sure you remove all unnecesary cards (sound, modem, nic) from your computer and then do a complete format of your hard drive.

Once you are done with the format, reinstall Windows 98. If you don't get any errors then you pretty much know that it is a device problem.

Once you have Windows installed, add one device and load the drivers for it. Do this untill you get the error. Once you get the error message, you will know what hardware piece is causeing the problem.

The fix for these device problems could either be getting a new device or downloading and installing new and/or updated drivers.

I know this is a long process, but since this is a constant problem that happens even after a format, it leads me to belive that this is not a software issue but a hardware issue. :(

I just reformatted though. Couldn't I just go back using scanreg/restore, and pick the date I formatted?

C:\C:\VIAUDIO\VIADIO.COM
If you want to run DOS legacy game, please enable sound blaster Pro on BIOS
setting first.

C:\>SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D0 P300

And there is nothing in Config.sys
