Connecting Laptop wireless
I have a friend who has an Acer L/top. She started out with a dialup hookup. She then switched to DSL Lite, her son-in-law gave her a new router & I've been trying to hook it up as wireless on her L/top,
Specs on her comp. Acer L/top #5360 (Think) XP Media Centre Speedstream 5260 Modem D-Link WBR 1310 Router Is it possible to do what I'm trying ?? I can get it to work with modem hooked direct to comp & also when I have the router between the modem & L/T but when I try running wireless I can't connect. I have desktop running Win 98se with Speedstream 5360 & D-Link DI-524 router, my wife has a Toshiba L/T & she can access the net wirelessly even when my desktop is switched off. Any ideas on this, Bob |

Hello Bob,
You should be able to accomplish what you are trying to do. There is a WAN port in the back of the Dlink router which your DSL modem should be connected to. If you cannot do it with wireless but with wired I would have to say it would be your wireless settings on the laptop that is misconfigured. Use any wired computer that you have and access the router. Make sure you copy all of the wireless settings including the SSID, encryption, and etc. You can take a pencil and paper and write them down or copy and paste them into notepad. Then you will configure those settings on the laptop either using the utility that came with the adapter or the built-in settings on XP. For additional details you can visit your product here. http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=474 If you need further help, please let us know.
