Note that this isn't the Super Mario Forever hack as listed in GoodNES 3.10.

================================================== ==========

Instructions:
You'll need a ROM with a checksum of 3337EC46.

GoodNES 2.01 name: Super Mario Bros. (JU) (PRG0) [!]
GoodNES 3.10 name: Super Mario Bros. (JU) [!]

Apply with an IPS patcher.

You need a copy of a Super Mario Bros ROM. You will need to own the original game, or a compilation which includes the game (eg Mario Allstars). I believe owning the Virtual Console version may be ok too. From the filenames, the ROM will have to be of the Jap version. Whichever version you get, it needs to have a checksum of 3337EC46. Any NES emulator should be able to tell you the checksum of the ROM.

You need to use a tool called an IPS patcher to apply the patch. See, what you downloaded isn't a NES ROM, but is code that should be used to modify the original game. The IPS patcher is the tool which will do that for you, once you have the two required files (the game ROM and the Mario Forever patch).
