Quezzy about Windows Vista Premium Home

Sorry if this is a stupid question but:

Is Windows Vista Premium Home edition 64-bit compatible?

Because with Windows XP you had to choose to get either the 32-bit or 64-bit version. Im just wondering becuase i am condisering getting Windows Vista Premium Home edition and i have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ processor and would really like to unleash the whole 64-bit interior.

Cheers,
Tybalt.

you can get the 64 for premium vista but you have to purchase the 32 then follow the instructions to get 64 from microsoft.

This is a great thread. I belong to Dell forum and they talk about the only way to get 64 bit is to upgrade to Ultimate.

Have read the links here in this thread and am considering going to 64 bit so I can utilize the 4Gig of RAM I have. Am gonna go through all my programs & hardware to make sure is compatible.

Have just been to Nvidia website for 64 bit drivers and it asks what language my Vista OS is. How do I know which English version....US or UK?

Cheers

Just reading link again that you put up peter.

I have a Dell with vista premium on but no disc (think that means OEM).

the link says "If you bought Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, or Business as a retail, packaged product, and you would like a DVD of 64-bit software media to install on your PC, please choose your language"

so does that would mean it's not avilable to me?

Well I know my system is compatible. Had checked that just after I got it 3 months ago. And last night did some more research and found my major applications are also compatible.

Only things I am not sure of is my printer and portable HDD. They are both a few years old now so may have to update them both.
