Hello

I have two questions which I am trying to get to grips with. One is: how do you join a computer to a domain whilst logged in locally, and if I created a new account in AD and wanted to create an Exchange email box, how/where do I do this?

Many thanks for any help.

You will have to have a Server running which will setup a domain for you....(DC controller and all that) that's where you start making your tree...... Once you get that setup properly then you can go ahead and install Exchange Server 2007 or whatever you got and join the computer via domain.

then all you gotta do log in locally in your XP machine (assuming its xp) and right click on my computer --> properties --> computer name --> Change ---> then insert the domain name which you have setup in the server 2000 or 2003....

so thats above suggestion is how the whole thing is setup.

so the question is do you got a server running? if so what's the name of your domain...?

If you're using Exchange 2007, you actually set up your new users there instead of in AD. If you're using Exchange 2003, when you set up a new account in AD, it should automatically create a mail box for the account.

Very many thanks to both of you. I have a job interview soon and am bound to be asked something along those lines. I think I have a clearer idea now.

Best regards.
