Does one (or more) of your relatives like to forward messages with all former and future recipients' email addresses visible? Or send things to a lot of people with all the addresses visible (not using the BCC feature)? That's one way addresses are harvested.

Another way is one of the places you've used that address has sold it, along with others on their list, to somebody willing to pay whatever price they charged for it.

Looks like I have to change my email address. Yeah I guess they forward emails without deleting the original address. I know I didn't use my email for anything so I am just setting it as spam and blocking this sender on the account BUT I am definitely changing my email and telling my sister to quit forwarding my emails.

If everybody remembered the Golden Rules, scams like this wouldn't be a problem.

Rule 1: How do you expect to win a lottery you didn't enter?
Rule 2: Especially a lottery run in a country you don't live in?
Rule 3: That, and software/internet companies don't run lotteries. Usually, they leave that to...lottery agencies.

Looks like it's your lucky day. Good ole Microsoft is giving back. Your winnings are probably coming directly from Steve Balmer's personal fortune.

It really is nice of Microsoft to "give back" like this but I'm kinda surprised they didn't ask for a credit card number so they could collect their 'processing fee'.

Maybe I should e-mail this back to them:

1. Full name................ Donny Dork
2. Country.................. No, I live in the city
3. Contact Address.......... 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500
4. Telephone Number......... 1-800-EAT-SH!T
5. Fax Number............... 1- 202-EAT-SH!T
6. Marital Status........... Nagged
7. Occupation............... Stable cleaner (gotta clean out the horse sh!t you're sending me)
8. Age...................... Kinda old
9. Sex...................... YES!! As often as possible
