Deleted files still appearing in searches
Hi all,
I have a problem, in that when I delete some files they still appear on the search function after they have been deleted, although when I click on the file from the search, it simply says the file cannot be found. Anybody know how to get rid of these dead search items? Thanks in advance |

Hi packtim. Are they represented as actual files or shortcuts in the Recent Items folder? If the latter, rightclick on your Start button and choose Properties. Click on Start Menu and uncheck "Store and display a list of recently opened files".
Let us know if this helped.

Thanks for the response. Initially I think these were shortcut files, not the actual programs before I deleted them, located in the 'Roaming' directory AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent
I tried what you posted but things still show up. Any other suggestions? Thanks for yout help |

Hi packtim. The suggestion I posted will only affect the Start Menu. I dont know what I was thinking when I posted it, sorry.
What you need to do is to exclude the Recent folder from your search. To do this, see here.Hopefully this is what you wanted.
