My whole computer has been running slowly since the day my AVG Anti-virus stopped working suddenly.

The error message I get for AVG is this:

avgwb.dat- Application Error

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application.

I am fairly certain this is what is crippling my computer. Can someone help me figure this out? I tried changing some permissions on a .dll file suggested on another site, but nothing...

PLEASE HELP!!

Scun11 - first welcome to the CTH Forum - plenty of great pros here to help!

I'm currently using AVG on a new laptop w/ VISTA - luckily, I've not had a problem - first, have you tried to find any information about this issue @ the Grisoft website? Second, you might want to visit the Cyber Safety Forum, and post a Hijack This log from your computer - directions are there - good luck w/ your problem & hope nothing too serious!

You can post a Hijack This log here. I'll have a look at it and move this topic if necessary.

Go here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?) and download Hijack This to your Desktop. When you have downloaded it, doubleclick to install. Once installed, open Hijack This and click on scan. Most of the files listed will be harmless and/or required so do not make any changes, just click on Save Log, copy it and post it back in this thread.
