I think I'm having a similar problem to the one first described in this thread: http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...t=59658&page=1
...but the problem PC is a desktop running on XP home, with an ethernet connection that no longer registers the DSL modem it's connected to. (my wireless connetion through my laptop is fine with this modem) The problem started when I uninstalled a bluetooth adapter that I had just installed. (Not sure if something else got deleted in the process) ipconfig brings up only: "Windows IP Configuration" then another prompt repairing my local area connection results in: Failed to query TCP/IP settings (and a google search brought me to the thread above and the suggestions there didn't seem to work) netdiag/test:ipconfig/v results in: Failed to get information for a network adaptor. The error occurred was: The pipe is being closed. (232)[FATAL] Cannot find TCP/IP configuration from the registry. Any help would be greatly appreciated, but go easy. Much deeper than Windows Explorer, and I can get confused. ![]() I've tried these steps, with no result: -resetting the modem and rebooting the PC -Put in the windows XP CD and navigated to the support >Tools folder. Double clicked setup and select full install. Clicked Start >run >cmd {enter} Typed netdiag /test:winsock /v {enter} Ran this: If so try, http://www.spychecker.com/download/d...sockxpfix.html Ran this: AND this http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm tried reinstalling the TCP/IP stack by: Right clicked "My Network Places" select Properties. Right clicked the connection and select Properties. Clicked Install >Protocol >add >have disk Browsed to the location of nettcpip.inf on hard drive, (a search didn't find it on the XP cd) Selected TCP/IP click OK Rebooted Last edited by artrobot; November 29th, 2007 at 07:02 PM.
