I am reforamtting my computer.....currently running Windows Me. I am going to change it to Windows xp. I read the tutorials on the site of first removing the paritions, then creating partitions, and then foramtting the main hard disk. Is that neccessary. Formmatting the c: drive is easy(because the tutorial looks easy enuogh), but hen installing Windows Xp after. Could I still use the Windows Me bootdisk, or do I have to find a Windows xp bootdisk and switch it and then reboot it to use the Windows Xp Cd and then installing it??

The WINXP install CD is bootable, so you would not need to use a bootdisk in order to install the operating system. Put the install CD in the drive, and in the initial phase of the boot process, enter the BIOS Setup and ensure that the boot device order is set to boot from CDROM before HDD (or C). When you make this change and then opt to Save Changes and Exit, the computer will restart the boot process........look for a line (probably near the bottom of the screen) that says something like "press any key to boot from CD", and press any key as soon as you see that message (it's only displayed for a few seconds before the boot process goes on to the next drive in the boot device order).

If you'd prefer to use a bootdisk, when you boot from it and get to an A: prompt, you would have to navigate to the i386 folder on the install CD, and then run WINNT.EXE (as you cannot run SETUP.EXE from within DOS).
