when i try and burn a dvd in vista (dvd_video and dvd_audio) the program i use stops responding and just hangs until i force it to shut using task manager...

ive tried
Copy to dvd
1 click dvd copy
win avi
nero

none of them work... they just end up not responding, i have a DVD+-RW drive, and ive tried datawrie and also pleomax. Both of those media dvds and all of the programs worked in windows xp... whats the problem with vista? any suggestions please

Please provide more information concerning the maker & model of the drive - also, is this an 'external' drive that you had used previously on an XP machine or an 'internal' w/ a VISTA upgrade? Either way are there VISTA compatible drivers for this particular drive?; you can check out the VISTA HCL (http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/ed1e3b7d-5ea7-4ad3-be3f-af29f7b48dde1033.mspx?mfr=true), if not already done - then, go to the manufacturer's website to determine if the drivers you are using for this drive are compatible w/ VISTA. Good luck & please post your results (I have VISTA on a new laptop and had some initial problems w/ an old external hard drive which I use for backup) -
