I'm considering building a new (Athlon) system and am presently looking at a Gigbyte GA-7VAX motherboard. I'm not a "gamer" but I work extensively with photography and graphics.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as to sources for CPU's, Memory, etc. Suggestions for other motherboards will also be welcome.

I have an ATI 9000 video card which I would like to use in the new system, but this isn't a "must".

I expect to purchase a CPU in the 2Gb neighborhood, but this also isn't a "must".

I already have several cases/towers and power supplies up to 300w which I hope to use. I also will definitely be using a Motorola SB 4200 Cable Modem and LinkSys BEFSR 41 Router.

Both pro and con opinions concerning the use of onboard LAN's vs my 3Com Ethernet Cards (which are somewhat old) are welcome.

Please help me avoid wasting $$$. Thanks guys. :-)

most of that stuff is personal choice i build quite a few of them and my choice is abit & amd and if you stay at least one chip set behind it will be more stable i would also recomend on your mb & cpu you get a boxed set so you will have a manuf warrenty also the fan and heat sink will come with boxed cpu that will cure any heat problem
