Hi everyone, im running windows vista here, and I have a hardrive that used to belong to my old windows XP machine, and this HD was the one I ran my OS on, And I had a password to login to windows xp.
now when im trying to transfer the files from my old XP hd (in specifics im trying to access my old desktop) to my new vista machine, its saying I dont have permission to access the folder since it used to be password protected. So here are the steps I take to try and "access" my desktop I go into my old HD and go through it like this F:\documents and settings then it displays my old user name from the xp machine which is "Pat Brown" Then I right click the folder and goto "properties" then i goto the security tab and change the settings so it allows "full access" for my vista machine but once i go into a sub folder in the "pat brown" folder, say like the desktop folder, i get the error explaining that I dont have access. so it wont allow me to transfer anything from the "pat brown" folder anyone know how i can disable that? thnx |

Are you doing a file transfer? Or physically attaching the old drive to the new machine as a Slave?
