help with COD4

I have the same error message when trying to start COD4. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop with an Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family (224MB). I have more than a gig of RAM so I knew that wouldnt be an issue. But I have read that my video card is soldered to the motherboard so I can't upgrade it... is that true? Besides I dont even know if there is an empty port since it is a laptop. I don't know much about hardware. Also, I don't want to spend a whole lot of money.

If you tell us what computer you have we can help easier. Even though the Video card is onboard (meaning intergrated to motherboard) you may have a separate slot you can use for an add on video card. For that info, we need your computer model and number or your motherboard model and number.

No, sorry, missed that with removing your posts. but a laptop usually can't change the video card so you're stuck with the on onboard. Which aren't good for playing high end games like COD4.

Now going to Dell's support you need to make sure your card is integrated and doesn't have a removable card because according to Dell this laptop may come with a removable video card. What does the specs say, from any paper work you may have gotten? If you're not sure, download the program in my signature labeled Everest Free Edition and install that on your laptop, open it, click on Display and in the right hand window it should show which video you have.

Then you're stuck with the onboard video card and onboard video cards do not play games well at all. Solitaire might, but that's about it. And your video uses part of your ram, so that's a problem as well.

You're video card is not in a DDR slot, that would be memory. And DDR2, DDR3 on a video card doesn't interfer with your system memory. It's just the type of memory on video cards.
