Boot Folder On Drive D Instead Of C and D Is Failing

The Folder named " Boot " which SHOULD... be on the main drive was somehow installed to my 1st storage drive " D: " I would like to move this back before the drive fails since it cannot be replaced atm. I copied all of the files to the main where they belong but two won't budge and then of course, windows has to know it is there... What do I do please>?

Run a startup repair Rezig. Startup repair will copy bootmgr to your system drive and rebuild your BCD. See here for more help.

Executed..... Repair recognised Windows as being on the D:\ Drive.. No actual repairs made.. Boot Folder remains.

Attempted disconnection of affected frive with unrecognised Windows reported in Repair; executed anyway...

Horrible lagg in compy seems temporartily better.. No BCD folder in C:\Boot

Darn. What drive is bootmgr on? Do you get an error message when you try to copy the Boot Folder? If so, post it in full please.

I already specified the files that would not copy, the location of the boot folder and and what drive in my my first post.. please reread above..

The boot folder loaded on D: instead of C: like it is supposed to be... I need it moved.. all other files copied.. no real errors save for an in use notice..

Try booting from the DVD and use the Command Prompt to copy the files to your C drive. See here for more help.

The commands are (hit enter after each line):

cd D:
copy D:\Boot\BDC C:\Boot\BCD
copy D:\Boot\BCD.LOG C:\Boot\BCD.LOG
exit

Did this do the trick?

My apologies for being so delayed in response...

The files copied just find and when I renamed the old BCD to .old the machine had to run a startup repair and then put the BCD back in the original place...

Do you mean that Startup Repair undid the work you did? If so, did you try just copying the files across and then disconnecting the D drive?

I've tried all of this Ann.. It just keeps moving the bootstrap loader folder over.. and that drive is failing.. I moved connections around and it seemed to find it again somehow... probably because I neglected to delete the folder upon reinstall.. the OS is perfect this time save for My MP3 Pro's cut editor having no sound upon playback... * investigates other program options * I am at a loss as to what to do... What's next Dearie??? I never do get the Simple.. problems... do I? heh.. We can take care of almost everything save for somethign wierd like this.. * sighs * Everyone's help is definitely appreciated...

Hi Rezig. Are you saying that the original problem you posted about is resolved and you now have a problem with a third party program?

No Dear... the system was indeed reinstalled... and then We plugged my drives back in and there we are... boot on the D again.. I'm debating about trying the whole OS over again due to this problem and another... My apologies, was very frusterated and ranting at the time..

That alright Ann Marie... Iou've been of great help all the same and that's - always appreciated... I never ask the simple problems... Even system designers tend to be baffled.. Here's hoping SP1's impending release will help with the problem.. And anyone else with Ideas of course..
