IE 6.0 Information Bar

Hi,

I am wondering how to turn off that annoying information bar for IE 6.0. If the website just has any javascript or flash it will block it, but you can allow it with the information bar (manually). How do you turn this off?

I already tried going to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Internet -> Custom Settings and enabled scripting and disabled automatic prompting of active X and so on. Maybe I am not setting the right ones? I played around with it for half an hour, but still couldn't get the information bar to disappear.

Have you clicked the "x" on the information bar itself to close it? If you have, since making the changes in Internet Options, have you closed and restarted IE? If you have, did you reboot the computer just in case IE needs a little extra "kick" to get the message?

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Pop-up Blocker and then click "Pop-up Blocker Settings."

Clear the "Show Information Bar when a pop-up is blocked" check box.

See if that finally does the trick.

Tried it, but it still doesn't work. What should my settings in the security options be?

Check out this page.

If you've already done all that and the bar is not disabled, I'm all out of ideas. I'm running IE7 and the last time I saw the information bar was when the computer was new and I needed to get Flash, Microsoft's ActiveX for their update site and a few other things. After it had all the add-ons I use and I'd unchecked the "show" option in the popup blocker dialog, I haven't see the information bar again.

Oh ok. It's finally gone. I never went to the advanced tab before, only the security. Thanks.
