IBM diagnostics

Have 2 IBM 300GL 400mhz. No boot-up on either. Just a series of short beeps. one short, three short, one short. Monitor remains dark. Any ideas what caused this? Is there a cure?

The following are IBM BIOS Beep Codes that can occur. However because of the wide variety of models shipping with this BIOS the beep codes may vary.

Beep Code Description
No Beeps No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
1 Short Beep Normal POST, computer is ok.
2 Short Beep POST error, review screen for error code.
Continuous Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
Repeating Short Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
One Long and one Short Beep Motherboard issue.
One Long and Two short Beeps Video (Mono/CGA Display Circuitry) issue.
One Long and Three Short Beeps. Video (EGA) Display Circuitry.
Three Long Beeps Keyboard / Keyboard card error.
One Beep, Blank or Incorrect Display Video Display Circuitry.

Already figured it had to do with the display, from reading the same IBM codes. What I need to know is what to do?

check your monotor with a known good pc, reseat your video card if it dont boot then put a known good video card in, and try again one of those things is likely your problem

Used 3 different known good monitors, 2 different known good cards. Same problem, both machines. Is there a setup disk for these things, without costing too much?

if you are talking about operating system either locally or some place like ebay some one had a site with nothing but sofware posted a while back i thought i book marked it but i cant find it now

but none of the above would explain your beep codes it is to the point now to where i would have to have the machine in front of me to do you mutch good, but i will still be glad to answer any thing i can, or maby some one else has thought of something i have over looked
