No programs can access the internet except Firefox

Hi everyone.

Yesterday I downloaded and started using Firefox. Now today Firefox and Skype are the only programs that are able to use the internet. When trying with MSN messenger, it responds with Key Ports error telling me to check proxy and firewall settings but there is no firewall or proxy setup only the standard basic windows sutff. And Interent Explorer just gives the old "The page cannot be displayed" page.

I'm am using Windows XP Home.

Could anyone please help me with my problem? It would be very appreciated.

Sorry to bump my own thread but the problem hasn't been fixed. Could anyone please help?

Have you tried using you're AV program ? It could be a little bugger got in while you were downloading.

I did a whole computer scan, tried using the internet with the AV on and off. Nothing seems to work.
