Hotmail Horror ...

Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 6, Error Number: 0x80004005

Can anyone throw any light on this, please? This is happening all too frequently.

Is this me, or Hotmail?

Thanks,
Anne.

Hi, thanks for replying.

No Inbox.mbx found in search. Plenty of dbx though. As : Hotmail inbox.dbx. If I left click on that, the message ... Windows cannot open this file appears. Right click, and I can rename it. I haven't done anything as yet. Will await your reply.
As a test I made another Hotmail Account, but the same thing was happening with that also, so I removed it.

Hotmail isn't my default mail, Outlook Express is, and I have Hotmail in Outlook. I can't even get to the mail in MSN when that original message appears. Some mail gets through, but not all.

Hum... What version of windows are you using?

Can you perform a file search "*.mbx" (everything between the quotes)?

Edit: *.mbx is the correct search... the * is needed as welll it is a wildcard...

Well at this point I think I would uninstall and reinstall Outlook Express. Make sure that you have your defult settings handy, you will need account information (pop and smtp settings, user name, password, ect) If there are any email messages you want to save you can create a folder in my documents and save the messages into this new folder.

is a link with a step by step configuration guide for OE

BTW do you have version 6 of OE?

I had a feeling you were going to say rei-nstall OE. I upped to OE6 long before this started happening.

I'll give the install a whirl, and see what happens. Will report back.

Thanks for the help, sounds logical to me.
