Nero 8.2 Install problems

Hi all

Back in October, I purchased Nero 8.0. All worked well, until I received an email from Nero with an 8.2 update install. I being the idiot that i am, thought the update would just be an add on, and did not uninstall the original Nero 8. Upon completion of the update install, I can no longer access Nero. Every time I try, all I get is the following message. "Nero has encountered a problem and must close..etc." I have tried contacting Nero Tech support, but that is a joke. I have sent them at least 20 emails, and all I get in return is computer generated Emails that have nothing to do with a solution.

I have uninstalled Nero 8.2 and Re-installed it several times, but when i go to activate it, i get the same results. I have a license number which I place in the correct place, but it still does not help. Is the problem in my computer? Or is it something to do with Nero. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

I had problems with the latest update as well. I have always been able to install an update on top of whatever version I had. When I installed this one I kept getting the install shield and it kept telling me to "reboot to continue installation".....over and over and over.... I finally found the Nero Clean Tool on their site and completely uninstalled Nero. After that I was able to install the new version. It was a big pain but the clean tool at least works well. You can get the clean tool at this link.

On edit: Just make sure it is the clean tool for version 8.

Upon further searching, I found that Nero, for some reason thinks my version is an illegal one. They installed a bug, so that i cannot open Nero. For over the past 10 days, i have been in touch with Nero tech, and they have had me doing the same thing as you, but the clean tool is of no use. I have sent them proof of my purchase of Nero 8, but since its the holidays, I guess i will have to wait until next week sometime before I will be able to get it fixed. I have searched everywhere for the bug, but have not been able to find it. The only reason I know its a bug, Late last night when i was trying again to install another version of Nero 8.2, when i clicked on start, I got this warning message

Warning: Can't Create ProductdbManager Object! - (Line 123, File.\ExternalApplicationManager.cpp)

If anyone knows how to get rid of this bug, I would really appreciate it. I have been without Nero for over a week and its really making me mad..

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 that my parents gave me when they purchased a new computer. It was riddled with problems so i installed XP Pro over it and believe I have finally worked out most of the problems. My main problem is this; I have an older version of Nero, Nero 5 to be specific, and am having problems simply copying CD's. The originals are not copyrighted, in fact they are bootlegged live shows from bands that I like. But Nero will not allow me to simply make a copy. My thinking is that since there are no copyrights, the discs are passed betweeen people, that this should be a relatively simple task. But it has proven to be anything but simple. Any help in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated as there are other people waiting on me to make them a copy, and then pass the original to the next person. I have also been asked, more like told, NOT to attempt to change formats, just to simply copy as an audio CD. Hopefully someone out there can help me. I am not adverse to trying other copying programs as I realize my version of Nero is a bit older and possibly out of date. Please help me if you can. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Ledhed, you need to start your own thread on your subject. Not sure how much help you will get since you are talking about bootlegged lived shows. You might want to read the TOS for the forums.

Hubbleman, I also went through and deleted any Nero folders manually. I used CCleaner to clean up what the Nero clean tool didn't get so that might be something you want to try as well. It certainly won't hurt. I have never had a problem installing updates on top of previous versions until this update. I guess I'll be uninstalling from now on. What a pain.

I have done all that you suggested, but now what do I reinstall? Do I go with the Nero 3.0 Service pack as well as the 4.0? What about the update patch. Like you said, this is a real pain. (btw. It says the 4.0 service pack does not supersede the 3.0, thus the question)..

Angry I am at my wits end....lol

I did everything that you said, I even got an email from Nero tech support telling me exactly what service pack to download. I followed all directions to a T, but when my nero finished installing for the umpteenth time, I got the same old: Nero has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have had it with middle management, as all they want to do is give me my purchase price back. I have informed them several times, that I do not want a refund, i just want my Nero fixed, as I use it all the time. Can anyone tell me how to get the Email Adress of Richard Lesser, the CEO of Nero. I am quite tired talking to middle management. I need the higher powers....lol. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hubble, I am just getting back on so I apologize.

That being said, I did not install any Nero 3.0 or 4.0 service packs. I didn't do any patches either. I just took the Nero 8.2 file after uninstalling and cleaning everything and installed it. When it asked for my license number I put it in and the installation completed successfully. I have no idea what service packs you are talking about. What are they for? Maybe the service packs are what are causing your problems. I would go through and uninstall/clean Nero completely again and just take the 8.2 demo file and install it with no service packs. Try that and see if it works. I have a feeling the service packs are causing your problems.

Nero 8 download problems

Thank God, I have finally found the solution to the nero download problem. I had to rename two files in the Nero program, and it now works fine. But, in the course of deleting all the old Nero files, I hit upon a bug, and as soon as I did, my screen went black and it started dumping files. I have no idea what files it dumped, but i can no longer access my program that runs floppy discs. I dont use it all that much, but I would like to find out what else was dumped. How can I go about this? Thanks again for all the help. You have been wonderful.

What do you mean it started "dumping" files? Did your computer start deleting files? Let us know.

I think that is what happened.

I am not sure, but I think that is what happened. While i was deleting the old Nero files, I got an Error Message. I can't remember exactly what it said, but something to the effect that there was a bug in one of the files that created a major failure, and then the screen went black and all it said was dumping files. It did this for about 100 files, and then shut down. I think everything is ok, but I have no way of checking to make sure. I am not sure if I need to contact a computer tech and have them look at it, or just wait until I notice something that i should be able to access that I can't.

As far as not being able to access the floppy disc, I am not to concerned about that, as i rarely if ever use it. The only reason I noticed, was my niece was trying to access it and could not.

I have tried several times to do a system restore, but each time i try, it fails to complete the restore. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks again.
