Howdy:
If you check the Start Menu of your system you should see an "eRestore" option.
Use that to burn the dvd's you will need to do a complete restore.
You will need at least 2 dvd's (did your system come with a dvd burner?) or about 8 cd's.
It will tell you.

That's the one. I wiped the Acer programs from my system after I made the DVD's so had a hard time remembering what it was called.

I also have an Acer Aspire M3100, purchased brand new last week. I was having problems with my 2005 Samsung SyncMaster 913v monitor giving me a floating message over a black screen that said:
Not Optimum Mode
Recommended Mode 1280x1024 60Hz
There was no way to use the mouse or keyboard; I had to push the start button on the computer to shut it down. The problem occurred mostly when I did a shutdown/restart. I had to shut down completely, unplug the computer, wait 5 min then restart in order to use the monitor.
I had someone take a look at the problem and from reading the specs on the Acer website, my computer doesn't have what is advertised. I think he said I have NVIDIA and it should be something else :(
Can you tell from the following what it is I'm supposed to have?:
http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Acer-Aspire-M3100-Desktop/2880363/product.html
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz - 3GB DDR2 SDRAM - 500GB - DVD-Writer (DVD±R/±RW) - Gigabit Ethernet - Windows Vista
http://global.acer.com/products/desktop/asm3100.htm
Aspire M3100 AMD LIVE!™ featuring AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core processor; AMD Athlon™ 64 processor; AMD Sempron processor; AMD 690V + AMD SB600; Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium; Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic; Up to 8 GB DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM (dual-channel support on four DIMMs); Serial ATA hard disk up to 400 GB1 per 3.5" drive; ATI Radeon™ X1200 graphics solution; Up to 8 USB 2.0 ports (4 front, 4 back); Multi-in-one card reader; High-definition headphone and microphone jacks; IEEE 1394 port (6-pin); PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports; 6 audio ports; Ethernet (RJ-45) port; D-Sub VGA port; Parallel port.
We ended up moving the slider bar to lower the resolution for the monitor, which made my icons appear larger. Large icons are not a big a problem because the fonts were too small anyway.
Anyway, my new Acer with Vista Home Premium came with two DVD-R "Blank recovery DVD" disks. I'm having the same questions as Windoo, and found Start > Acer eRecovery Management.
Do I need to click "Acer eRecovery Management" and do something further? I'm not sure what those 2 blank recovery disks are for. If I understand correctly, they're to make a complete restore backup.
Do I make the complete restore backup *only* when I plan to do a complete restore? Or should I do the Acer eRecovery Management thing now for future use? If I need to do this, can you give directions how?
Thanks

Howdy:
Go into the ERecovery Program and follow the prompts to make the DVD's.
Do it now because, if your system crashes, you may not get the chance to get in and do it later.
As for the monitor error, put your resolution to what it says it needs for "optimum" performance.
Also, please start your own thread next time rather than hijack someone else's okay?

Thanks Murray, I'll certainly get the DVD done now.
Sorry for hijacking (sounds like I did something really bad), but I thought I had the same problem as Windoo (same exact computer, and the backup/recovery question).
