Hello everyone,

I'm wanting to backup my C: drive with Nero Backitup. Program as I've seen it work before is pretty good for this. My problem is that when it looks at my hardrive (drive 0) it sees the drive as completely unallocated, no data on the drive.

It recognizes the drive just fine, size wise, but does not see any data on the drive. If I want to back up just files and use the part of Nero that does this it sees all files just fine.

The drive is 80G with no internal partitions, full 80 as C Drive.

Any thoughts.

With Nero Backup it shows you the drive and content that is on the drive just loke if you click on "My Computer" then your C: drive. You have to go through everything on your drive and pick every bit of Data that you want backed up and drag it to the side for backup. It doesn't automatically do it for you.

Mr., thanks for the reply. But no that's not exactly true. If I was just looking to backup files or folders, etc., that would be true, but Backitup allows you to backup up the entire drive (including OS) and then transfer the entire backup to a new drive. In this case I'm going from a 80G drive to a 320G.

I found this in NERO's help for Backitup.

Basic steps

The following basic steps are required to backup a drive (i.e. hard drive and/or partitions) with Nero BackItUp:

Select the hard drive/partition to back up (see Select drive (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/selectdrive.htm))
Select the target of the backup (see Backup Settings screen (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/backupsettingsscreen.htm), for example)
Specify backup settings and start backup (see Completing the Backup Wizard screen (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/completingthebackupwizardscreen.htm) for example)

Yep, that's the way its done. My problem is when I select a drive (I have 2, 80 & 40 G) it shows as 80 GB Total size and 0 Used. The "Used" is typically the data on the drive, in this case its ~40 GB. If Nero at this step doesn't see data, there is nothing to back up. If it sees data, in the next steps it will estimate number of disks needed depending on media used for the backup. In my case esitmated is a big nothing, no data = no back up.

I guess I should mention that I am running Win XP SP2 and Nero OEM 6.6.1.14

thanks again.
