My brother’s pc has got a sound problem. He is running Windows ME.
He remembers it being fine before we installed windows 2000 a while ago, which I don’t think he likes.

Here’s the error messages he gets when he tries to play something in...

windows media player (http://www.mkdaly.co.uk/me1.jpg)

And the error message he gets when trying to play an mp3 using win amp:

windows media player (http://www.mkdaly.co.uk/me2.jpg)

Does it sound related to the windows 2000 installation? How would he uninstall windows 2000?

Thanks

Hi mojo the monkey,

Tell your brother to try these fixes:

For the first problem listed, see this MSKB article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=306244)

For the second problem listed, open Winamp, then open Preferences window (Ctrl+P). Under Plug-ins, click on Output, then double-click on the reference to waveOut in right pane. In the Device field, use the drop-down picklist to choose the reference to the Sound card, then click on OK and then Close.
