Has it always been slow Geoff? Is Vista an upgrade or did it come preinstalled on your laptop? What edition of Vista do you have and how much RAM does your laptop have?

Hi AnnMarie,

Used to be faster than now.
Vista Home Premium preinstalled.
RAM 1918 MB.
32 bit operating system

Thanks for your interest.

You are welcome. Boot into Safe Mode (restart your computer and tap F8 continuously as it restarts). Run some programs now. Is it still slow?

Doesn't seem to make much difference. There is a panel keeps coming up which states -'ConfigFree tray has stopped working'-

In Safe Mode? If so, this is to be expected. Many services do not run in this mode.

If you dont notice any difference, the problem is not very likely to be software related. Check to make sure that all drivers are updated and also check the health of your hard drive.
