dvd reader not recognised
hi im new to this but can anyone please help me.
i have a dvd reader that has worked for about 12 months & i recently bought a dvdrw and they both worked great together. however last week i decided to delete all my files and to reinstall windows & now when i boot up only my hard drive and the dvdrw are recognised both at boot up and by windows. they are both lg drives and lgs helpdesk just tell me 1 to reinstall windows (no success) & 2 get a driver off the microsoft site (no success) any advice would be apreciated. |

Hello, You will probably have to go into your bios and change the settings in the bios setup portion of your bios, When comp first comes on hit delete, use arrow keys to move to the bios setup area, make changes then hit esc, f10, y for yes to save changes hth

hi thanks for that i tried it but no go.
i have unplugged my dvdrw and the dvd reader appears again. a local computor shop has suggested my power supply could be faulty. could this be right. |

faulty power supply?? not likely.
if you are using cable select & both drives are on the same channel set your jumpers as indicated on you drives as follows dvd-rom - primary ide port 2 dvd-rw - slave ide port 2 turn on the computer & wait for the detection if does not detect or if windows does not detect go back to your bios & check the ide & hdd settings make sure the drive that cant be read is set to auto or dvdr / dvdrw & not set to "not installed" then check in ide hdd auto detection & check if it reads up there then save & exit windows should read it if not you may need to update your m/board bios & check with lg you may need to update your firmware also |
