I have windows vista home premium on a Toshiba satellite a205-4777. Everytime i restart my computer it checks the hard disks for consistency. I havent noticed anything wrong with any files or anything. But then i try system restore and it says hard disk contains errors. What should i do?

Thanks for any help :D

Welcome to CTH

Double click on "My Computer" highlight the C: drive (right click) on go to "Properties" then to the Tools TAB, now hit "Check now" under error checking, window check Automatically fix errors.

It may require a reboot then the scan will start.

Your hard drive may have a few bad sectors, or is failing, corrupted, run the tools from the hard drive manufactures page may tell you. Obviously you will need to know who made the drive.

If you right click "My Computer" then go to "Properties" click on "Device Manager" then on IDE ATA/Drive.

If it tells you then go to their web page.

Example:

Western Digital (WD) (http://www.wdc.com/en/)
Maxtor/Seagate (http://www.seagate.com/maxtor/)

Yes

Toshiba does not offer a diagnostic utility for their Harddrives. The Hitachi (IBM) Diagnostic can be used to test these drives.

Which you can download HERE:

After reading if you need help making the floppy or CD, let us know

Well now my computer is really messed up, i restarted my computer, and know its totally not working. When i turn it on, it starts up and takes awhile to get to the log in screen thing, then i sign in, and acts like its going to go to my profile but just stays black. And rarely does it go to my profile but i cant do anything, its really slow and i cant start up any programs, just stays at the wall paper.
