THis is really frustrating me. For some reason lately my computer has been terribly slow. I'm running pre-installed 32-bit Vista Home-Premium on a Toshiba A200. I have the hijack this log. I'm getting so frustrated there's so many problems with this currently that I just feel like formatting. but I have no way to back-up any files unfortunately. Anyway, here's the log.

hm? I had norton installed at first.. and the trial randomly ran out around 20 days or so before it's time i can't remember the exact details.. then i tried uninstalling it and it didn't remove everything.

There are a whole bunch of Norton startups showing in your log. A bad uninstall could slow your computer down and it looks as though this might be what we are dealing with. Go here (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039) and run the online Norton Removal Utility. It should get rid of all Norton traces.

Reboot afterwards and let me know if this helped. Also post a new Hijack This log please.

I could be just plain stupid. But after clicking the download button itself the site won't load. I tried in INternet Explorer as well and still no luck. the ftp server the file is hosted on tries to load, but fails.

Hmmm, I had no problem downloading it. Anyway, I have zipped it and uploaded it here (http://h1.ripway.com/AnnieFriday/Norton_Removal_Tool.zip) for you. Download it to your Desktop, unzip it and follow the instructions on the Symantec site.

Reboot afterwards and let me know if this helped. Also post a new Hijack This log please.

In this case we are dealing with a bad uninstall which may or may not be the reason for the slowdown. This can happen with any antivirus/firewall program vbn_in. They really need to be shut down before uninstalling but not everyone is aware of this.

Are you familiar with windows meeting space at all? that comes pre-installed with vista?

No, all I know is what I have read about it kyleb_37. I have never had the need to use it.

That shouldnt be happening. I think I should see another type of log. Download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) from here (http://deckard.geekstogo.com/dss.exe) to your Desktop. Close all open applications and windows, doubleclick on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.

When the scan is complete, a text file will open. Copy and paste the contents of this log (Main.txt) in your next reply. Also post the contents of Extra.txt (it will be minimised on your taskbar).
