Can you upload a DVD to movie maker?

My son has just burned Hi8 footage to a DVD, but we can't figure out how to upload it to Movie Maker so that he can edit it for his school project.

If not, does anyone know of software that can do this?

I see that your topic has had quite a few views but no replies Jessek. Movie Maker is a specialised topic and I have no idea. All I can do is post links that might help you.
