Vista - Access to hard drive permissions

I had to re install all software using the recovery disk, i.e. clenaed the boot hard drive!

I called the PC a new name.

I have an external hard drive and I cannot access it due to “I do not have permission”.

Any suggestions as how to change to access to any user?

The instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q308421), also work for Vista.
