Mouse issue

this might be a stupid question, but every time I am typing my cursor will automatically switch to were it may be on the screen this causes many problem when I am trying to type an essay. For instance say I have a few paragraphs, if the mouse pointer is in a previous paragraph it will automatically switch to there when i am in the middle of typing. any ideas?, I am running Vista Home edition on a dell laptop.

Hi Netako. Try disabling touchpad tapping. Have a look in Control Panel and see if you have a Touchpad tab in your mouse properties? If so, try disabling tapping and see if you still have the same problem.

Unfortunately I cant see what you see. Have a look at this article and check all options in your mouse properties to see if you can find this feature and if you do, disable it.

Hmmm. Rightclick on your Desktop and choose Personalize. Click on Mouse Pointers and you should be able to see your Mouse Properties now.

Do you have an Icon for the TouchPad in your Notification Area (bottom righthand corner of the screen)? See here.

If this doesnt help you, I'm out of ideas Netako. Hardware issues are not my area of expertise. You could try checking the manual that came with your Laptop or the Dell site.

Netako, go to the Dell site and see if there are any touchpad driver updates for your laptop. That might fix the problem.
