I have SBC Yahoo DSL but never use their services, just their modem.
I also have a Linksys routerhttp://i.expansys.com/i/l/l114241.jpg

I tried connection the ethernet wires but it didn't work. Said I got an ip problem or something.

How can I setup a network for two computers to share one dsl connection.

And then a printer.

Thx in advance :afro:

Very brief synopsis of your actions (if you're not sure how to do ANY of these steps, post back and we'll get you going):

Power up the router
Connect a cat5 cable between the router and your pc
open a browser window
in address bar enter http://192.168.1.1
username and password required (I think it's user= admin p/w= admin for Linkys, sometimes no username p/w admin)
Put your ADSL username and logon details, as per previous modem, into the approprpiate fields
setup the connection settings as per previous modem

From this you can see what setup is on your router. At this point, it may well be worth doing a factory reset - typically hold the little reset button on the back in for 10 secs.
Check the revision level of the software whilst your in there, see if it needs updating (always worth the effort).
If you get absolutely stuck with the settings required above, your ISP should have some FAQs and guidelines on their homepage for ADSL accounts.

As for the physical connections etc:
What model is the router?

In general, if you are going for a wired setup, you connect as follows:
Put the telephone line into the Line jack (usually white on Linksys)
put the cat5 cables into any of the Ethernet ports (usually yellow on Linksys)
The cat5 cables will connect one per pc and the same for your printer - if it has a network card
.
If it doesn't have a network card, we'll attach it via usb or LPT cable and share it for the other.

Step 5.
I don't think I know any of that.

ok, when you get on the admin pages of the router on 192.168.1.1 it should present you with one of these

Username is admin or left empty, password is usually admin

I've just realised I may have made a massive assumption here and may be unnecessarily over-egging the cake! Is this a router attached to your modem, or is it a modem/router?

What model is it, regardless?
