Vista Home Premium cant activate AIM

I downloaded the newest AIM to my new computer running Vista Home Premium. It seems to have installed properly but when it finishes I get a message that says that IE will not accept my screen or user name? Any help?

Hi Gail Blaackman. There are pages of posts on the AIM message board complaining about the performance of latest version of AIM with Vista. See here (http://messageboards.aol.com/aol/en_us/search.php?search=vista&boardId=565563&search_all=0&search_type=3&search_mode=both). At best, the compatibility is suspect and at worst, it seems to break some Vista features. This is not a Vista issue though. You need to contact AIM Help and Support.

Can you advise how I contact AIM support. I called AOL and they were unable to assist.

I dont use AOL or AIM so I wouldnt have a clue but for heavens sakes, I would have thought that AOL could point you in the right direction. It is their software after all.

You could try posting a topic in the AIM Support forum I linked to and see if help is forthcoming. Actually, in view of AOL's lack lustre response, I would drop AIM and stick with Messenger if I wanted to use an IM client.

Thank you...What is Messenger and how do I go about using that. I always thought there was only AIM and Yahoo-which isn't good for me? Thanks for your help

Thank you so much. Since you are in the know...I have NEVER been am AOL person at all...however AIM was what my Co. used. So can IM interact with AIM or would I use one (AIM) with that group and the other IM with the second group? Most interested in the video feature as I use MAC which has a built in camera. Thanks so much

Gail, I dont use any IM Client. You asked about Messenger and I posted the link but beyond that I cannot help. If you start a new topic in the Applications or Internet Forum, you should get the help that you need.
