faster downloads

I'm wondering if I would get a faster download by switching my modem to a v.92(56k), I'm currently using a 56k v.90 modem. Is there anyway to do this... except by cable and dsl. I am currently using the Win98SE OS, if you need any other info please ask and explain to me how and why I can do these things.

your modem will have to support v.92(56k), and your phone co will have to support it also

let me put that another way, how can I get a faster downlaod by using just a modem... and again please explain.

One other thing I forgot to mention, you get what you get with dial-up. Dial-up is what it is, you can tweak it only so much. Lot of factors to consider when trying to tweak dial-up.

I'm lucky to have a very fast connection, but I've heard good things about Lightning Download. The site explains how/why it works, too.
