I am having a problem with doing a complete Backup for my computer. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 32 bit. Every time I try to do that I get the following message:

The backup application could not start due to an internal error:

Server execution failed 0X80080005

Please check your system configuration and try again.

How do I resolve this error?

Hi Jak212. McAfee QuickClean (Security Centre 2008) has been reported to cause this problem by deleting restore points so it's possible that other software that has the same function would do the same if you do not have McAfee installed.

I do have McAfee QuickClean on my computer but I don't use the system restore cleaner and I disabled it from functioning automatically. What other steps should I take to resolve the error?

Did Quickclean ever run? If so, it has no doubt caused this problem.

Do you have a full backup that you can restore? If so, give that a try.

Did you try using using System Restore and restoring to a date before the problem occured?

I did but that did not work.

Well the only other option that doesnt require you to reinstall Vista is to try a startup repair. See here (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/5c59f8c1-b0d1-4f1a-af55-74f3922f3f351033.mspx) for more help.
