Using my friend's laptop, I am unable to connect to my home's wireless router. 3 other computers have already been connected to this network. However, on the laptop, it shows that the network IS there, but when I attempt to connect to it, it says that the network is on longer there. Strangely, when I refresh the list, it shows up on the list again.

I am using the windows default wireless program to do this, and when trying to use the HP wireless configuration program, it's unable to find any networks.

Anybody know the problem?

Welcome to CTH Njn

Can you connect to the router by cable first and ensure the internet connects ok.
what OS does the laptop have?

Yes, the internet works fine while connected by cable. The laptop uses Windows XP Professional.

It's quiet possible Njn that your wireless connection on the friends laptop is setup or a different configuration. Have you tried the New connection wizard on that laptop?
Start>Connect to>Show All connections then select the "Create new connection" icon inthe upper left corner of the window.

Yes, I have tried it before, but it brings up something else. During the wizard, it says the wireless is disconnected, but I've actually pressed the button and turned it on, and the HP software also says that WLAN is on.

what make/model is the router and what model is the HP?

There's a very specific reason i'm asking this, cos this is starting to sound like a particular problem I got a while back.

The model of the router is a D-Link di-624+.

I'm starting to think this is the laptop's wireless adapter problem, but it seemed to be working not long ago, so I'm not too sure about that. The reason is because, I have another laptop configured exactly the same way, but has no problem connecting to the network.
