Absolutely. It may involve re-partitioning your Hard Drive to provide space although RH7.x & above should allow you to perform a "partitionless" installation onto a FAT32 drive, you will see better benefit installing on it's own Linux file system partition.
Red Hat will install it's own Boot manager (LILO) into the master boot record and give you the option on boot to select Linux or DOS (Windows).

Hmmm... just re-read your question and hope I'm not taking this too literally...
run them both at the same time?
You won't be able to run both O/S simultaneously. You either boot up to Windows or RedHat. So you can't have your RedHat server running while using Win98.

The most likely source of problems will be re-partitioning your hard drive to create free space for Linux.
If you could give us a little detail about how big your hard drive is, how much is used space (with Win98) we may be able to step you through it.

:)
Well in that case, rather than trying to find a completely new system, see if you can install a 2nd hard drive and install Linux onto that, then you won't need to mess with the Windows system at all.

If you're lacking hardware that you're 'allowed' to put linux on.....and really are itching to try out linux....
I'd like to suggest http://www.knoppix.org/
where you can obtain a 'live CD' version of a linux operating system. It is linux on one CD that you toss in your PC, reboot, and use almost like a version that you would install. It is a great way to expereince linux without the installation overhead.
