Hello!

I am currently trying to figure out what's wrong with my desktop pc.

I was using a wireless pci card, the linksys wmp-11 and I also switched to the usb d-link wua-1340. However, with both of them the wireless only seems to work for a while before the drivers mysteriously seem to not exist.

I'll be playing a game, or d/l'ing something and it will stop. I'll then check the device status and it says there are no drivers currently installed. If I try to update them the process freezes and have to manually shut down my pc.

I am not even sure if it is strictly a networking issue, because when the wireless dies, so do the usb ports(other than the mouse usb for some reason) and if I try to shut down the pc it sits at the shut down screen forever.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I should also mention.. I formatted and reinstalled windows xp pro with no results.

I have all the updates and the newest drivers from the manufacturers.

Have you got the latest mobo drivers installed and have you updated your BIOS since the reload of XP? That would be a good starting point.

Yep, installed the latest bios, and all the drivers for the mb. The thing I find the most weird is that it works for a while after a reboot, and then suddenly stops.

I thought you meant that in your earlier post, but thought it an idea to check!

do the usb components and hub show up with the dreaded yellow ? or ! marks in device manager when it all goes sick? (I think thats what you sain in post #1)

So you have to go and re-install them again? Any chance of you posting a few screenshots of the driver status when it plays up next?
