What's Wrong???

My modem has gone crazy! I just got my puter on the right track, it was freezing like crazy, and now the modem is acting up. When it is trying to connect to the net, there are 9 straight beeps that sound on the phone line before it gives you a dial tone. (I am told that this is only when you have CallNotes Answering Service, provided by the telephone co). During this time I get an error saying "no dial tone". I have uninstalled, and reinstalled my Dialup, and I have troubleshooted the modem. When I do diagnostics on it, I get data back. What is wrong with it? It will work fine for a day or two, and then it goes haywire. Please Help!

hi, just wondering if you have reinstalled the modem driver. when i was having dialup problems before i went to broadband, i did everything i could think of, when the most simple of solutions ended up working. just try reinstalling driver (it should be included with the packaging for the modem, or in the software box that came with your computer when you first got it)
