Hi Everyone,

I have installed AVG Fee on my laptop running Vista Home Premium. The installation was smooth but after updating the icon on the taskbar is black indicating the virus database is not up to date. A message "Conponent statue cannot be determined. Connection failed." is listed against the antivirus icon in the control center. When I try to update it manually, after checking the database online it returns a message saying the my antivirus database is up to date.

Can anyone help me?

Regards

Hi thaitrader. Check your computer date setting. Is it correct?

Hi AnnMarie,
The laptop was configured in Thailand and so the location was set to Thailand and Thai local time. It was like that when I installed AVG but I have since changed the location to Australia but as I live in Thailand I have set the local time to Thai time.
The date was correct but on the Thai calender, same as ours but they have a different year "2551 = 2008".

Thanks
Thaitrader

Thaitrader - so, this is fascinating concerning the dating? So, 'what' did you do? AnnMarie is quite astute in asking that question, as usual - BTW, I'm running the free version of AVG on my VISTA Dell laptop w/o a problem (USA, EST) - your response will likely help others - also, welcome to the CTH Forum - hope that you will enjoy!

giradman,

I changed the date to Australian time and tried to update again....no success! When I tried to update it returned a message saying the version I was using was out of date and did not recognise the update database. I checked the version I had installed 7.5.423. then checked the latest version on the Grisoft website 7.5.516. I downloaded the original file from a mirror site who obviously do not have the latest version.
I repaired the current installation using the latest download from Grisoft and everything works fine now.

Thanks for you help and interest in my problem..............great site. I read with interest and hope I can contribute one day.

Kindest Regards
Thaitrader
