Auto config TCP/ IPv4 settings.

Hi. Have already posted this in Internet forum, but think this is a better forum to post it in. Correct me if iIm wrong.

Heres my question.
At home I use some special ip4 settings, and specifying the settings in IPv4.
Ip address, net mask, default gateway, and preferred and alternate gateway.

This is on a laptop and I use it often out of the house.

Is it any easy way to make a script to add my default settings, and to set them to automatic again.

Chris

What OS you using? I occasionaly use Netsh.exe to do it - create two shortcuts on my desktop and flip between the two as required. I'm too lazy to type the commands in cmd all the time

Hey Snurfen move over and let me try answering this one..... ;^)

Chris - Google netsetman. Its free for non-business use. It allows you to setup various networking profiles and switch between them on the fly.

[as you may figured out, I'm lazier than Snurfen here and don't even want to have to figure out the netsh commands.]

cmd /k ipconfig/all [use to start ipconfig from 'Run']
cmd /k ping <some website, like google or yahoo> [use to ping 'www.google.com' from 'Run']

Ok... This didn't work.
I configured 2 "tabs" one for auto and one with specified
IP , Subnet and default gateway, and preferred and alternate DNS server.

Selecting auto, is OK, but setting specified doesn't work.
It puts in the right settings for preferred and alternate DNS server, and ticks off for Use following IP settings, but it doesn't change the settings.

I have checked the IP box in NetSetMan, and all settings is correct.

It detects my network card, and everything should be ok, but it doesnt change my IP address or Subnet Mask. It changes Default Gateway though.

I use Vista and my network card is: Wireless WIFI Link 4965AGN with newest drivers.

Done some testing. It doesnt look like it can read my settings.
It can read dns settings, but not IP, gateway and subnet...
I tried to get current settings, and the 3 last named was blank and dns got the correct info....
